Grendel was the senior short film made by my graduating class.
I was a Texture Artist / Shader on the film. I helped out early on with the lookdev figuring out how to work with Renderman in Houdini which was a newer integration at the time.
I textured/shaded some environment assets like the rock and grass of the island and the exterior of Grendel's home.
I also got to texture/shade Nimsey, the large purple dragon at the end of the short. It was a fun challenge. The concept was very stylized and it was great to get to figure that out on the 3d character with it's glowing eyes and poisonous feeling skin.

2019 Student Academy Award - Gold Winner for Domestic Animation
Grendel gave us all a night we'll never forget when we took home the Gold Medal Student Academy Award! It was a very surreal moment and it meant the world to see all the hard work that so many students put into it be recognized. I absolutely loved my graduating class, I was grateful to get to be a part of their team. Kalee McCollaum was an incredible director and Austin Rodriguez was a fantastic producer.

I'm so grateful for our team and for the incredible faculty of BYU's animation program.
