THe concept for this character is by @guille_themovie on instagram. I contacted them to be able to create a 3D version of their character. I loved the color and personality and really wanted to give it a shot. I'm not a character modeler but i really wanted to texture and shade this so i decided to give it a go. I always like pushing my skills in new directions.

This was a first look at textures after one Substance Painter pass. Still a long ways to go. Nothing here is final. My next step is going to be doing a good pass on the skin. I'm going to try and find the balance I want between stylized and realistic. Everything about the skin needs adjusting, Going to lighten up the colors to match the concept while adding a lot more variation. There aren't any roughness or displacement maps on the skin yet so I'm excited to create those and see how he looks! 
This pass I've adjust the color of the skin- started to add some variation in to break up the color. The middle and top right show the small scale displacement i've got going and the bottom left shows me introducing larger scale displacement to break things up.  I'm not loving the consistency on the face so I'm going to rework it, I think i want the face to be less blobby and more wrinkly so i'm going to try that next!
I've done some work on the skin to add more color and displacement variety. I also did some work on the cloak to add some stains and drips from his skin.
Here he is as of 8/3/2020. I'm pretty happy with where he's at. I'm rendering out a turntable which will be fun to see him in motion.
